Is A Cheap Printer Good Enough For Professional Prints?

I’ve just bought myself a Canon PIXMA iP8750 A3+ printer so that I can print my own photos at home. I’m so excited about it.

I was worried the print quality would not be anywhere near as good as more expensive professional printers like the Canon PRO 100S, so I was very keen to test the printer out and see if it was good enough to produce prints that I could potentially sell.

Find out how it fares and what my decision is in this video.

For A3 those cartridges looked quite thin, just wondering how many full page prints can be done with the quality of shots you have before they start to get to a stage where they need replacing?

Hello first of all thanks for your video ….please would you tell me if print from ix6850 is as good as 8750 ? I mean is there just little difference or it is more ? Many thanks in advance. . Cheers

Thank you so much for this!! I have been trying to find the right printer for MONTHS! I am a traditional artist and i’m in the process of setting up my art studio, i’ll also be opening an Etsy shop, start a YouTube channel and be selling prints. I really wanted an A3 printer but they were all so expensive, and so many of the more affordable ones are all-in-ones! Can’t bloody stand all-in-ones! xD
Your vid has helped me finally make a decision after months of torment! Now I just need to find an affordable colour laser for printing documents and everything else!
Thank you!

I been looking for a printer for sometime now and i decided to get the pro 10 until i saw this. I took your word for it and purchased the same printer you have here and its bang on. I can’t see the pro 10 being much better.

Recently purchased this printer after much research. Extremely pleased with the print quality and ease of use, and versatility. I Highly recommend this printer for producing professional results at an entry level price. I use this printer to reproduce my original artwork.

Hi Chris, About 3 years ago a photographer from Toronto Suggested to me to consider selling my images at a farmers Market, I live in Ontario Canada and I don’t know if in England you have the same kind of markets, but if you do give it some thought . over the last two seasons I have sold many images and it has been a very worth while effort. Also from your presentation people see all that you may have to offer, I have booked weddings, portrait shoots, private lessons ect  so for me it has been great exposure and a significant part of my business. Just my 2 cents worth. I wish you every succsess.

I looked at getting a printer and doing some prints as well, but then after looking at the cost of ink, I decided against it for now. Instead, I found a place that comes highly recommended and have had a couple dozen done up. Mostly for ourselves from our bike ride around the world, but I also printed some out for family and friends that joined along and gifted them with nice frames. Cheers and interested in how the printer works out.

Sergey Usik says:

Dear Chris, would you please let me know as for BW printing on this printer what inks the printer does use, just black and grey? How much does inks it take to print A3? What the resolution of BW print if I chose print to be pure BW? Thank you

BallinWang says:

the pro-100 has a 200 dollar rebate, which becomes $129 in the final cost.

Looks fantastic Chris.. where did you get the frame?
